People in the world
are paying more and more attention to environmental protection
since the ecological environment is being damaged. In many
countries, trees are restricted to be cut in order to save
the forest resources. And now, bamboo is regarded as the best
replacement of hardwood. Bamboo floors, furniture, etc. are
loved by more and more people. It's "green" decoration
material in now-day's lives.
1. Growing Fast
Bamboo is a renewable resources, it is the fastest growing
plant in the world. It grows one third faster than the other
fastest tree. The mature period of bamboo is only 3-5 years
while hardwood should take at least 10-20 years to be harvested.
Bamboo has very extensive rooting system, on which new bamboo
grows up after the old is harvested.
2. Harder than Oak and Maple
Bamboo has been proved to be harder than Oak tree and Maple
tree. According to test, bamboo is about 27% harder than Oak,
and 13% harder than Maple. It is 50% more stable than Oak
and 2.5 times more stable than Maple. Bamboo flooring is more
durable than traditional hardwood.
3. Not Easy to Shrink, Swell or Curve Since bamboo fibers
are vertical, they are processed in the same direction of
fibers. This can reduces the opportunity of moisture absorption
compared with traditional woods of which fibers are round
and much easier for water absorption. In process, bamboo is
steamed and dried to reach the moisture at to 8-10, which
prevents curving after installation and also anti-mildew.
